Scottsdale, Ariz. January 2, 2024 - Life365, a leader in Virtual Care, Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), Patient Engagement and a holder of critical US patents related to wearable devices, released a statement today supporting the current administration’s decision to uphold an import ban by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) in a health care patent infringement case brought by fellow digital health company, Masimo. Alivecor has also been going through a similar process with the ITC.
“Although the ban has temporarily been lifted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the current administration's decision to not intervene in the recent ITC ban as a result of the Masimo patent infringement is a huge validation and victory for small businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Kent Dicks, CEO of Life365. “Innovation is a cornerstone of the US economy, and we must protect intellectual property to promote continuous innovation.” Dicks is an industry innovator, with 17 years of development experience in digital health, and a named inventor on 75+ US digital health patents.
Life365 holds patents for technology related to wearables connected to medical devices, sensors, implantables and rapid diagnostics, including US Patent Nos. 10,695,007 B1 and 9,974,492 B1. Their portfolio also includes AI driven edge-processing, on lean operating systems, to enable cost effective care for large populations of patients at home.
In June 2023, Life365 announced their inclusion in a major government contract to provide Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Home Telehealth (HT). Life365 and government partners are working together to increase access to cost-effective remote care, especially in rural locations, leveraging the Life365 patent portfolio. In addition, Life365 is an integrated partner with a large cloud enterprise partner, connecting over 500+ medical devices to healthcare systems and providers worldwide.
